Should new skirting boards be placed over floortiles, retirifed skirting tiles, floor or skirting boards first?, skirting or tile first, tile flooring then skirting? , tile or skirting first, do you lay skrting tile first or floor tiles first. Tiles or skirting boards first? i am getting a room built by a builder. he is completing everything, apart from the floor tiles. in our situation, the skirting is painted and there is sealant between the skirting and the tiles (and skirting and floor). it can easily cope with the normal laundry splashes and spills. cheers.. I am having a new room built on a concrete slab. i am going to tile the floor myself. should i get the builder to leave the skirting boards, and do the tiles first?.
How about doing away with the skirting altogether and fitting a skirting tile instead. as it's a timber floor then add a bead of silicone between the skirting tile and floor tile in the same colour as the grout. (tile floor first) if you decide to go ahead with the wooden skirting then as said fit the skirting after floor.. Depends on the room, if u need to replace the tiles then u have to ripp up all the skirting. but it u lay the skirting first then tile to and need to replace the skirting its only a little but of grout u need to replace.. The other says he has never heard of such a practice, always tile close to the wall and put the skirting board on top - that way you don't lose half the height of the skirting (as we are having underfloor heating on backer boards under the tiles) and if the tiles are laid properly that will give the best finish..
